WCDM – IAEM Oceania events
For those who are attending the WCDM Sydney or in Sydney on 13th or 14th October, IAEM Oceania will be arranging several events for members including:
CEM / AEM Presentation Breakfast
Members Dinner
Vice President Scott Milne, Secretary Darryl Dixon, Oceania CEM Advisor Martin Boyle and Oceania Student President Amy Stephenson will be present to meet and ask questions.

Student Council Elections
With 221 members the Oceania Region is growing, and 42 of those members (19%) are students. The Oceania Student Region is the first to be formed outside of the USA and is now in the process of forming its Executive Committee.
The vision of the Region is to be a network of support and encouragement
for members and to provide them with the tools to develop their education and professional abilities and competencies in emergency management and its related fields, as well as to provide them with a link to the wider IAEM membership. The role of the Executive Committee is to carry out this vision and to increase membership. The Committee will be chaired by the President and will include the following roles:
•Vice-President – helps the President to run the region, recruits new members, liaises with members not affiliated with a Chapter, helps to set up new Chapters.
•Secretary – keeps all of the non-financial records, manages the Regions printed and online presence, takes and distributes minutes of meetings.
•Treasurer – keeps all of the financial records, presides over elections, and manages the budget.
•Academics Officer – represents and liaises with Members on academics, education and scholarships and related projects
•Employment and Development Officer - represents and liaises with Members on employment, internships and professional development and related projects
Each of these positions is now available - if you would like to nominate yourself for any of these positions please email stephenson.resilience@gmail.com by 5pm on Monday 5th October with your name and contact details, the position you would like to run for, a photo of yourself (optional), why you would like the position, and what you think you could bring to the role (total max 300 words).
The positions discussed above are elected roles within the IAEM which will enable you to demonstrate your service, academic, project management, teamwork and emergency management knowledge and skills. The election timetable will be as follows:
Nominations due by: Monday 5th October 17:00pm (AEST)
Voting opens: Monday 12th October at 12:01am (AEST)
Voting closes: Sunday 18th October at 23:59pm (AEST)
During this time we will be asking you to vote online through the IAEM website for the 1st Oceania Student Region Executive – please cast your vote!

Membership Renewal
As of 1st October the 2009 / 2010 membership year commenced, head to www.iaem.com to renew your membership!
Dues have not been changed, so renew today – Make sure you log into your members area before renewing membership to ensure you keep member benefits and eligibility for AEM/ CEM Discounts and Oceania Positions.
Questions / queries can be sent to info@iaem.com – Oceania Council do not look after the membership database / process.
For Student Membership you must be enrolled in a program as of 1st October 2009 and:
NZ Students: Enrolled at an accredited university undertaking an accredited degree
AU Students: Enrolled at an accredited university undertaking a degree in emergency management or related field, with a minimum of two (2) subjects per semester.
Students may be asked to provide proof of enrolment if the Oceania Executive or IAEM Membership Director request current status.

Oceania Scholarship Basket
At the Annual conference, each council provides a basket for the student scholarship fund. If you have any items you wish to add to the basket, please contact Darryl Dixon (secretary@oceania-iaem.com ) or Kristin Hoskin (president@oceania-iaem.com ) as soon as possible.
